i think it's hilarious that duct tape has become a metaphor for something larger...something formless, vaugely related to war and homeland security and craftiness. duct tape carries a different weight now (and i'm not talking regular vs. professional vs. nuclear). it's no longer just arkansas chrome, but it holds political implications, as suggested by this salon headline, "Iraqis: "Smoking gun" made with duct tape". it's heavy, it's ironic, and it still won't save us from attack.
